St John's Tower Day

Saturday 19 March 2005 was set aside for St John the Baptist Tower Fund Day to raise funds for repairing the tower finials (See St John's in Trouble).

Aren't they lovely? Primroses? A real touch of Spring, so very natural in the Churchyard setting. And a super opening to our Tower Fund Day.

A family group intent on sorting out the puzzles of the tour of the Church and its surrounds. One of the events of the Day.

The South corner of St John the Baptist Churchyard. It has been cleaned up by Andrew Wallace and his team in readiness for the Tower Fund Day events. Well done.

Peggy and Doris welcome us through the Church Porch, and sell us our raffle tickets . . .

This is a puzzle. David our photographer says, "These are the YZs". You just say the letters quickly. See if you can work out what he means . . .

Adrian is directing a tour of the Church, pointing out all the historic and interesting features to visitors.

Doris, Pat and Mary take time out from duties to nurse the 'Flying Teddies' back to normality, and chat over progress so far . . .

Hello Teddy! Our photographer has clued out that he replies: "I'm so bored, . . .I can 'bearly' stand it all!" What an imagination. This is Bill's bear taking a look back on proceedings!

Photographer David says: 'this is where all the work is done'. Well, there were other corners where a lot of effort was being made; but coffee-break, followed by lunch, then afternoon-teas was a pretty tall order!

Here are some of the stalls in the vestry, with lots of goodies for sale. Certainly one of those cakes tasted really good!!

Marion shows her purchase to David and Steven Tingle, the brains and power behind the flying today.

Now, how about a trip to Teddies' Tower! . . . .?
