The Organ in St. John the Baptist Church South Collingham

Compiled by Reginald Priestley, August 2004

St John's Organ 2.jpg (42990 bytes)The organ was built by Wordsworth of Leeds in 1881 and enclosed in an oak case especially designed by the Rev. A. F. Sutton one-time Rector of Brant Broughton at a cost of £314. The instrument was installed in a capacious organ chamber specially built to accommodate it and four spare slides were provided for future stops to be added.

Throughout its long history of over one hundred years there has been but one major overhaul which took place in 1963 when one of the stops provided for was added along with a new pedal board.
