The
Collingham Garden Fete is a very popular annual event. It is
usually held in one of the larger gardens in the Parish. In 2004 Mr and Mrs Andrew Wallace
again agreed to allow their lovely garden in South Collingham to
be used for the Fete. Lots of extra work goes into the garden for such an
occasion. All was ready for the great day when two setbacks occurred: Three days before the Fete a wild storm
played havoc with the garden and spoiled a lot of the planting; and
secondly, the weather spitefully turned to heavy showers on the day of the event
itself.
So our Garden Fete had to become
an indoors event and was held in Collingham Memorial Hall. In
spite of this change of plan it was a very successful and enjoyable occasion.

Churchwardens
Nick and Marie, welcome this year's special guest - The Rector - to officially
open the Garden Fete for 2004. Nick's excellent audio
equipment made everything clear.
On
this occasion The Rector was our honoured guest, and opened the 2004 Fete for
the Parish. His opening remarks were succinct, humorous, and pleasurably
encouraged everyone to enjoy themselves (and, of course to spend their money -
for charity).
Marie and Nick,
thank The Rector for his support. And Marie presented the Rector with a little
something to help make the occasion memorable.
Are
you ready for customers yet? Nearly! They look good don't they? All home
made, they taste good as well!
Ready,
steady, GO! The staff are on their toes. The customers are on their starting
blocks (there's a purse open in anticipation already!). The doors are open. And
we're away!
Everything
is in full swing. Stalls are ready. Sales staff are steady. And the customers
pockets are heavy! The cake stall is always a popular venue.
People
enjoyed themselves, finding bargains or simply supporting their favourite stall.
The goods went like 'hot cakes'!

The
raffle stall did a roaring trade, with some super prizes. Eyes down for the
winning ticket! Wait 'til we've sorted them first though. Although all is busy
elsewhere, Connie takes a breather to look the cameraman in the eye!
Sam
and David talk over tactics, whilst Joan looks on. This requires serious
consideration. There must be a lot at stake here!
Meanwhile,
on the plant stall Bill and Joy ply their wares. Look at the tender loving care
that's gone into their rearing. (The plants that is)
Jean,
Kathy and Keith show their metal. This photo is a favourite of our photographic
team. By the way, is that metal, or is it something a little stronger?!
'Everyone
a winner' (well, almost!). What have we won Dad? All looked on with anxious eyes
as Elizabeth rolled the drum! The tombola stall is always a big draw!

Can
I have a go Mum? Well, only if you're good. Just one then, keep your fingers
crossed. How can I do it with crossed fingers? There's no answer to that!
Two
Davids wait patiently in line for a 'go' on the tombola. One David is our
photographer, so who took the photo?

At
last the moment has come. Did Revd David win anything? You bet. As he himself
admitted, he went home with goods he never ever thought he would possess!
