Welcome to the Collingham May Fayre. Who can't spell. What do you mean, it was intentional? And is that the local Fire Brigade in the background? Yes, and offering a look inside their fire engine - a must.
Wow! Look at those crowds. The whole village must have turned out.
Yes, I think we can say everyone's here. It's a lovely day, the weather's perfect - it's warm and it's sunny. And all's right with the world!
Part of the fun for children. A bouncy castle; and very popular it was too. Whew! you need some energy though - and an ice cream to help cool down afterwards.
It seems a lovely setting. The greens, the trees, and the lovely cottages, all make a super venue for a major village event.
Revd David takes time out to meet some of the dignitaries visiting the Fayre . . .
A local Councillor, maybe, and the local MP and his wife? All seem to be enjoying the lovely sunshine and the fun of the Fayre.
My feet are killing me! A quieter corner, set aside with seats and a little light refreshment for those who are 'growing up' a bit! And for the younger grow-ups too.
A sit down with a cuppa! And is that Revd David taking time out for a chat and a well-earned break?
Cream teas seem to be doing a roaring trade. Don't the greens in the foliage show their differences at this time of year?
Street Bartering? Well we haven't got one of those here sir; but you may find one of them over there!
Are you enjoying yourself? 'Well this isn't exactly Newark market. BUT, yes, we've got everything here, including the goods, the crowds and the weather!'
And, of course, plants galore. Jolly fine specimens they were too. The sort that demanded serious discussion with experts.
Now let's make sure we've got these raffle tickets sorted out. The ladies get together to organise the drawing of the tickets - quite a big job. There were some wonderful prizes to be won. And lots of happy winners.
This looks very interesting, challenging, and colourful. Trust the Scouts to think up something brilliant. And they still need lots of money to rebuild their damaged premises, don't they?
Lots more colourful things to be bought. All in good causes. All the money from the Fayre went to charitable causes. That's what it is all about - and of course to meet friends and have lots of fun.
A place for kindred artistic and sporting spirits to meet and chat above the noise of noisy castles, bands and crowds: 'The greens are super at this time of year aren't they?' 'Yes, ours is a crown green; what's yours, a flat green? Or perhaps you were meaning the golf course?' 'They do make a nice cup of tea here, don't they?' 'Yes, our first tee is usually a tricky one'. 'But how did you get on at the seventeenth?' 'The scouts have a big hole in their budget because of their hut damage, don't they?' 'Yes, as challenging as the nineteenth hole at the club, do you think?' 'Well it is good seeing you; we must have another chat sometime . . . '
