Welcome to the Bishop's visit to the Collingham Benefice

The Rt Revd George Cassidy, Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham, visited All Saints Church Collingham on Sunday 7 March 2006. This was a joint communion service for all the eight churches in the Benefice.

Following the service (which was very well attended from all our parishes) the Bishop stayed and chatted with those who took part.

David also took the opportunity to say hello to everyone.

Meanwhile coffee is being served, and there was plenty to discuss in other parts of the church. Nick is seen here mingling with the congregation.

And there is still time for a few more words.

And now it's time to say goodbye. What a splendid vestment the bishop was wearing, in Lent colours. Is it called a cope? Is that a stole the Bishop is wearing over his cope? Or is it an edging to the cope itself? We are inquisitive aren't we!  But, it is a beautifully colourful outfit, he certainly pulled out all the stops for us.

The queue to say cheerio seemed endless. But he has a word for everyone.

Ah! a lovely cup of coffee; after all it is thirsty work.

In the meantime more chat with friends over more cups of coffee (there is tea if you prefer, or orange juice!).

Finally as the last members of the congregation depart, the Bishop is still there to see them safely on their way.

Isn't this a picture that says it all? What more can one say?

We'll leave the last word to Isabella and the Bishop. We can also sense the full age-range of the congregation in one glance.  And, maybe Freya's own hat is best after all . . . !
