Xmas Beth 2004 Benefice 1.jpg (101882 bytes)

The Benefice team line up to portray the pros and cons of the arrival of this new baby expected by Mary the unmarried mother. The team included Pat, Carole, Di, Geraldine, Anne, Hazel, Marylyn, and Revd David (standing in for Megan). Can you spot them in their various costumes? These 'citizens' were nonplussed by events, and indicated their views.

Opinions were divided. Some were very much against Mary, and argued heatedly for a discipline procedure (we understand her script was written by Marylyn, who played the part).

Eventually one (is it her cousin Elizabeth?) has the courage to stand up for Mary and argues for her to be supported by the group (we were told her script was written by Pat, who played the part).

This stance was supported by another mother figure (Joseph's mother?). And the group was eventually convinced that Joseph was standing by his beloved Mary, and that all would be well.

A very dramatic and thought-provoking performance by the Benefice team and their two Principals, which drew an enthusiastically appreciative response from the audience.
