Up Specification

This is the South Scarle Organ Loft page.

The organ is by Thomas Haigh Nicholson of Lincoln, dating probably from the 1871 church restoration, and is his standard model III, with the slightly later specification having a metal Gedeckt rather than a wooden Stopped Diapason.

It has a blower added in the late 1960s or 1970s when it was restored. Plastic buttons have been used to replace leather buttons on the action, which is rather a shame. The reservoir leather is now becoming dry and brittle and before long the corners (at least) of the reservoir will require re-leathering.

It is a fine little organ in excellent condition, with pipework of first-class quality making a fine ringing, bold tone.
