The organ was built by Wordsworth of Leeds in 1881 and enclosed in an oak case especially designed by the Rev. A. F. Sutton one-time Rector of Brant Broughton at a cost of £ 314. The instrument was installed in a capacious organ chamber specially built to accommodate it and four spare slides were provided for future stops to be added.

The tracker (mechanical) action is rather stiff and needs quite a strong organist. However it is reliable and instant as the instrument is played. The front pipework is particularly fine and has not been decorated as it has a rich natural patina due to the fact that a 50/50 mixture of tin and lead is used.

Throughout its long history of over one hundred years there has been but one major overhaul which took place in 1963 when one of the stops provided for was added along with a new pedal board.
