Welcome to the Winthorpe Ringing page.
Practice night is Thursday. Handling practice starts at 19:00 by arrangement with the tower captain. This is for new ringers who need extra handling practice, it is usually performed on a "tied bell" because the sound of one bell going "ding, ding, ding......" for an extended period can be less than pleasurable. The main practice starts at 19:30 and lasts until 21:00, owing to dwindling numbers it is usually best to contact the tower captain before attending a session to make sure that a practice will occur on any particular night. If you are interested in learning to ring, or you are an experienced ringer who wishes to join the band, then please get in touch with the tower captain. We could do with between two to four more ringers, without these it is very likely that practices and service ringing may have to be cancelled at short notice. Bell ringing can be great fun and provides gentle physical and mental exercise. If you have a bit of spare time on Thursday evenings and are looking for a new hobby then why not give it a go? The tower captain is and he can be e-mailed by clicking on the link. |
