Wow! Isn't that a wonderful sight? What a super view of the nave of St Johns' Church. The Norman (left) and the Gothic (right) arches, and of course the magnificent floral displays, are all highly photogenic. And who climbed that rood-screen to place those displays?

St John Flowers 94 16.jpg (46533 bytes)

And a quick peek behind us, into the bell tower with its West window

St John Flowers 94 1.jpg (83558 bytes)

Mrs Mary Dodds is persuaded to stand by one of the exhibits. Is that a fox watching the photographer?

St John Flowers 94 5.jpg (61389 bytes)

Let's have a closer look at this one. It looks very interesting. What a beautiful layout of plants. And what else is there?

St John Flowers 94 3.jpg (101885 bytes)

This demands another closer look. Pan in a little bit Mr Cameraman! Now, how many animals can we see here?

St John Flowers 94 10.jpg (103076 bytes)

Again zooming right in shows the amazing detail in the arrangement. Is that a nut the squirrel is carrying? What sort of nut? Double click for answer ==>  AHorseChestnut.

St John Flowers 94 2.jpg (81691 bytes)

The altar frontal makes a good base for another splendid display.

St John Flowers 94 6.jpg (66452 bytes)

Now the sill of one of the stained glass windows offers a further opportunity.

St John Flowers 94 20.jpg (37975 bytes)

It must take a great deal of patience, as well as expertise, to make an arrangement look so good when precariously balanced on a window ledge.

St John Flowers 94 4.jpg (41867 bytes)

The memorial tablet with the names of all those brave soldiers forms the backdrop to a very elegant arrangement.

St John Flowers 94 32.jpg (31536 bytes)

And seen from a little to the right . . .

St John Flowers 94 7.jpg (56790 bytes)

The water display looks very handsome in this warm looking environment. And look at those gorgeous wooden benches.

St John Flowers 94 33.jpg (44645 bytes)

Yes! It also looks super from here. That water looks good enough to swim in. And the wooden frame is a work of art.

St John Flowers 94 9.jpg (44537 bytes)

The font and its adjacent pillar provides an excellent support and backdrop for this arrangement.

St John Flowers 94 8.jpg (62414 bytes)

Again a closer look reveals the detail in the floral design.

St John Flowers 94 19.jpg (37698 bytes)

And seen in a different light, with some of the many visitors in the background.

St John Flowers 94 11.jpg (54840 bytes)Ah! The Autumn with its residual warmth and splendid colours. We love the little wheelbarrow! And is that Harry Potter's broom we can see? There may be plenty of work for that!!

St John Flowers 94 27.jpg (88690 bytes)May we take a closer look please? Superb.

St John Flowers 94 14.jpg (57645 bytes)

A lovely sunny corner. What do those notices above the display tell us?

St John Flowers 94 12.jpg (62847 bytes)

What about a different angle on this? Some parts look good enough to eat!

St John Flowers 94 17.jpg (28453 bytes)

Who's this? A snowman in a flower festival, and smoking a pipe? Is that allowed in church? All will be revealed . . .

St John Flowers 94 18.jpg (36002 bytes)

What an interesting Winter Scene. We'd all like a sledge like that. Is he clearing the snow ready for a ride down Scarle Hill!

St John Flowers 94 26.jpg (69387 bytes)

Those flowers and the old gnarled branch  fit in perfectly. The whole thing has a distinctly Winter feel about it.

St John Flowers 94 23.jpg (54393 bytes)

And taking a closer peek! What are those articles on the back shelf? Leaves? Ice Skates? Snow shoes? OR some more gnarled branches? And who had all the fun building the snowman?!

St John Flowers 94 24.jpg (60010 bytes)

What a colourful scene. The imagination runs riot! Isn't that the magic door we came through to see the photos?

St John Flowers 94 21.jpg (78081 bytes)

Now from a slightly different angle. It looks magnificent doesn't it? And whose bonnet is that? It intrigued lots of visitors.

St John Flowers 94 25.jpg (95022 bytes)

And from higher up! It still looks great!

St John Flowers 94 22.jpg (74626 bytes)

More visitors near the high altar. And they're arriving all the time. There must be something of special interest up there. Let's put some more soothing music on to serve as a background. Nothing too loud though!

St John Flowers 94 34.jpg (33630 bytes)And finally, the provost of Southwell Minster, the Very Rev David Leaning, is seen here receiving a cheque for £1,200 from the chairman of the Collingham Festival Committee, Mr David Tingle, outside Southwell Minster. Watching from left to right are the Rev Alistair Conn, Rector of Collingham, Festival Chief Flower Arranger Mrs Mary Dodds, Southwell 2000 appeal director Mr Ian Graham, and Collingham Festival committee secretary Mrs Ruth Stainer.
