This month's Rota

East Trent Churches
Besthorpe, Clifton,
Collingham, Girton,
Harby, Holme,
Langford, South Scarle,
Thorney, Winthorpe.

Greetings from Thorney

Well, what changes we have seen over the past twelve months!

Here in Thorney it has been marvellous to welcome people from all the villages of the East Trent Group to our Services, and we are very glad of that.

In preparing our contribution for the 'Statement', providing information about our Parish to help in our search for a new priest, we came to the conclusion, through discussions with a range of people, that we should try to use our church building not only for Services, but for other activities, since we no longer have a Village Hall.

This set us off in a whole new direction! A Macmillan Coffee Morning was held in September and a Christmas Crafts event in November. Both occasions were very successful on many levels, and brought people together in a new way.

We have been greatly encouraged by those who attend church services regularly as well as those who do not do so. We hope that St Helen's Church will become the centre of our community once again, as it must have been when first built.

We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Best wishes

Anne Massey
