Flower Festival 94
May Fayre 2005

The theme for the 1994 Flower Festival at St John the Baptist Church, Collingham was: "Sunlight shining on the Four Seasons - illustrating the natural beauty of the English year". And we have lots of photos here for you to see.

The four day festival, starting Saturday included:-

bulletSat 27 August 1994 - Barn Dance.
bulletSun 28 Teddy Bear's Picnic.
bulletSat/Sun 28/29 Treasure Hunt.
bulletSun 28 Special Evensong Service.
bulletMon 29 Methodist Church Summer Fete.
bulletCricket Match

The barn dance was held in the Village Hall; the teddy bear's picnic at the home of Mr & Mrs Ken Crocker - "One Acre" Westfield Lane; the treasure hunt was in and around St John's churchyard; evensong was held in St John the Baptist, South Collingham; and the Methodist's Summer fete in their Church and Church Hall. The Cricket Match details have been lost, but we have information that "there was a big turnout, and it went very well". In fact we heard that some balls were struck so firmly by a new clerical batsman that some spectators were forced to seek cover in the bar - well that was the explanation!

Refreshments were available during the festival:-

Sat-Mon   Morning Coffee, The Small House, Stocks Hill
Sat-Sun    Ploughman's Lunches, South Collingham Manor
Sat-Sun    Afternoon Teas, The Burnt House, Westfield Lane
Sat-Sun    Local Produce & Cake Stalls

Church Opening Times were:-

Sat/Sun/Mon, 27/28/29        10am - 7.30pm
Tuesday, 30 Aug                   10am - 5.00pm

The Flower Festival was a huge success and raised a total of  £2,400 for charity.
